Linda Mars Stark

Linda Mars Stark, 75, of Lynchburg, Virginia, passed away on December 5, 2025. She was born on May 4, 1950, in Amsterdam, New York, to the late Bernardous Mars and Rebecca Zoethout Mars.

Linda dedicated many years of her professional life to the insurance industry in Amsterdam and Johnstown, NY. She later worked at A Fine Romance Bridal Store.

She is survived by her beloved husband, LaVerne Leland Stark of Lynchburg, VA, whom she married January 16, 1988. Her brothers, Raymond Mars of Amsterdam, NY, Robert Mars of Johnstown, NY, Ben Mars Amsterdam, NY, and Andrew Mars, of Amsterdam, NY; her aunt and uncle, Henry and Nancy Mars of Perth; her nieces, Susan (Bruce) Phillips and Christine (John) Lesniewski of New York; great niece, Kelly (Richard) Bell of North Carolina, and two great-great nephews, Richie and Mason Bell, whom she adored; and also her family in the Netherlands. She was very proud of her Dutch heritage, which reflected in her love of tulips. Linda also had a deep love of animals, especially her cherished pets that passed before her.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Ronald Mars and her great nephew, Matthew W. Phillips.

A Funeral Liturgy will be held at St. Thomas More Catholic Church on Thursday, December 18, 2025, at 2:30 p.m. Graveside services will be held in the spring at Hagaman Mills Cemetery, Hagaman, NY under the direction of Rose and Hughes Funeral Home, Amsterdam, NY.
