Linda Wright Obituary

Linda Hurst Wright

Linda Hurst Wright, 79, of Lynchburg went home to be with her Lord she served so faithfully on Thursday, January 23, 2025 at Watercrest Senior Living in Richmond.

Born on July 3, 1945 in Dunedin, Fla., she was a daughter of the late William Norman Hurst and Gertrude Carter Broersma Hurst.

Linda was a loving mother and grandmother who adored spending time with her family. She was a graduate of E.C. Glass High School and was a retired Administrative Assistant with Meredith-Burda / R.R. Donnelley in Lynchburg. A longtime member of Chestnut Hill United Methodist Church, she was very involved serving with the United Methodist Women and Meals on Wheels. Because of her love of all animals, especially her cats, she supported the Lynchburg Humane Society. She enjoyed flower gardening, reading, bird watching and family trips to Isle of Palms, S.C.

She leaves to cherish her memory a daughter, Amanda (Mandy) W. Edwards and husband, Byron of Richmond; two grandchildren, Julia Grace Edwards and William Wright Edwards of Richmond; two siblings, Richard Hurst and wife, Judy of Walnut Cove, N.C. and Helen Snow of Forest; and many special friends.

The family would like to give their sincere heartfelt thanks to the staff of James River Hospice for their loving care and support.

A Celebration of Linda's Life will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Friday, January 31, 2025 at Chestnut Hill United Methodist Church, 4660 Fort Avenue, Lynchburg, VA 24502 by Rev. Adam White with burial to follow at Spring Hill Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the Lynchburg Humane Society, 1211 Old Graves Mill Road, Lynchburg, VA 24502 or Meals on Wheels, P.O. Box 1388, Lynchburg, VA 24505.

We were neighbors on Hilltop Drive. I had so much fun as a kid playing with Mandy and hanging out with Linda. We moved away, but managed to stay in touch. So glad we got to see her within the last five years. She was very sweet and interesting lady. Mandy and family, my sincere condolences.

I will always remember my friend as one of Meredith/Burda's Employees Relations professional Administrators that helped make our Lynchburg printing operation the envy of the printing industry in the country.
Linda and I worked together for over ten years.I will always be grateful for all the time and help she gave me when we staffed both the North Carolina and Arizona operations.
Linda's attention to detail and her M/B personality, will be fondly remembered by everyone who worked with her as a really caring and elegant lady. RIP my forever friend.
