Louis Imbrogno Obituary

Louis F. Imbrogno

Charlotte. Lou Imbrogno passed away on December 25, 2012 at Presbyterian Hospital. He was 84 years old. Born and raised in Mount Vernon, New York, Lou lived in Virginia, Missouri, and Ohio before moving to Charlotte late in life. Lou graduated from Mount St. Michael High School in the Bronx, and Middlebury College in Vermont. Lou worked his way through college singing in a band, a skill too few people were able to enjoy. He started his career at American Brake Shoe Company in New York, married, and after a brief period, joined the Navy, matriculating through Officer Candidate School and served during the Korean War as a Lieutenant on the battleship USS Wisconsin. After the Navy Lou began his career in sales, working 34 years for Sam Moore Furniture Company of Bedford, Virginia, which took him and his family to Missouri, Ohio, and Lynchburg, Virginia where he lived almost 40 years. He retired from Sam Moore in 1993 and continued working in the furniture industry, started LFI International which provided merchandising and marketing services to furniture manufacturers, and became a partner in a furniture importing company. Although Lou often traveled for business, he was happiest at home with his wife Irene and four children. He was an avid golfer who played regularly and taught each of his children to play and love the game. He was a long time member of Boonsboro Country Club in Lynchburg, Virginia and very proud of his three holes in one. He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years Irene Widen Imbrogno of Charlotte, his children Fred and his wife Debbie of Shrewsbury NJ, Lou and his wife Alison of Columbus OH, Ed and his wife Annette of Charlotte, Marci Simmons and her husband LD of Charlotte, and eight grandchildren. He is predeceased by his mother and father Adele and Fred, and his sister Virginia. The family wishes to thank the staff at Aldersgate Cuthbertson Village where Lou lived the last four years for their great warmth and loving care. A memorial service will be held 11:00 AM, Friday, December 28, 2012 at Christ Episcopal Church, 1412 Providence Road. There will be a reception immediately following the service for family and friends. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Aldersgate Cuthbertson Village, Presbyterian Hospital Harris Hospice, or Lynchburg Daily Bread. TH Robertson Funeral Service Lic. is serving the family. www.throbertson.com.

Dear Rene and family,
I just heard of Lou's passing. I enjoyed working with Lou at Sam Moore for almost 20 years - he was always such a nice man with a great sense of humor and a wonderful laugh, I know he will be greatly missed by his family who he obviously loved so much. Deborah Updike
