Lucille Kendrick Obituary

Lucille Morgan Kendrick

Lucille Morgan Kendrick, 90, of Huddleston, passed away Sunday, Aug. 30, 2009, at Centra Lynchburg General Hospital. She was born July 18, 1919, in Bedford County, a daughter of the late Samuel Henry Morgan and Clara Blankenship Morgan. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Robert Irvin "Freck" Kendrick, two sisters, Reva Morgan Bohn and Matleen Morgan Cox, and three brothers, James Henry, Randolph Thomas and Samuel Lynwood Morgan. She was a faithful member of Mentow Baptist Church and retired from Halmode Apparel Inc. in 1992.

Surviving is her daughter,

Melinda Kendrick Nichols, of Huddleston, and an adopted granddaughter, Dr. Dale Ellen Nichols and her two sons, Michael Quaid and Aubrey Devon Davis, of Knoxville, Tenn. In addition, she is survived by one sister, Marie Morgan Holland, and her husband, Marvin Everett Holland, of Rocky Mount; two brothers, Alfred Clay Morgan of Huddleston and William Wallace Morgan and his wife, Betty Goggin Morgan, of Bedford. She also leaves to cherish her memories three sisters-in-law, Janie Kendrick Franklin, Lois Tuck Kendrick and Pearl Fielder Kendrick, all of Bedford, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. The family requests those wishing to make memorials consider Mentow Bapitst Church Cemetery, 3282 Mentow Drive, Huddleston, VA 24104.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 2, 2009, at Mentow Baptist Church with the Rev. John M. Boyles and the Rev. Wayne Murphy officiating. Interment will follow in Mentow Church Cemetery. There will be lunch served in the church fellowship hall immediately following the service. Friends may call after 1 p.m. today, Sept. 1, 2009, and the family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. at Updike Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Huddleston.
