Peter, Dabney, Mr. Daniel and your extended family, I am so sorry for your loss. She was a lady in every sense of the word and I am glad to have spoken with her this spring. Hearing her voice again, after so many years, took me back to my childhood at Sweet Briar. It was the same sweet voice, entirely unchanged by time, that I remember from long ago. May your memories console you in the days to come.

Lydia, in the over three decades I had the pleasure of knowing her, epitomized the height of graciousness. She was unfailing the model one looked up to and was always extremely interesting to speak to as her breadth of knowledge and interests were so wide. She enriched the lives of all those she touched and will be truly missed.

Mr. Daniel,
Daddy called to tell me of Mrs. Daniel's passing. I was so sorry to hear of this. You and Mrs. Daniel were always so good to my brother and me! I remember one time Mrs. Daniel praised me for speaking up at a parish meeting after I had been confirmed. It was so nice that even though we had different thoughts of opinion, she took the time to be kind to me. Much love to you and the family.

She was a wonderful person...always so positive and happy. Always so appreciative of the little things I did for her. I will miss her pleasant smile and genuine outlook. My thoughts and prayers are with you, Mr. Daniel.

We only knew her for a short period of time but she left a lasting impression with both of us. Her genuine and sincere smile would brighten anyone's day and to be in her presence was a joy. She brought a lot of happiness to a lot of people and her death is a shock and for us a sad occasion. Our deepest sympathy to all her family.
