Malcolm H. Gowell

Malcolm H. Gowell, 79, died on October 11, 2025. He was the husband of Connie Jordan Gowell for 59 years.

Born in Lynchburg, he was a son of the late Frederick Haven Gowell and Lelia Frances Burgess Gowell; and was also preceded in death by a son-in-law, Thayer K. Botham. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran, having served with the Seabees in Vietnam and was retired from Framatome.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three daughters Shelley Scranton (Jim), Sherry Venters (Casey) Jill Coleman (Greg); Papa to, Daniel and Lucas Botham, Ana, Ethan and Ivy Venters, Amelia Scranton, Makayla Davis. He is also survived by his siblings, Rickie Young (Richard), Becky Revis (Kennith), Virginia Caldwell (Ben), and Frank Gowell (Terri).

The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m., Friday, October 17, 2025 at Heritage Funeral Service, 427 Graves Mill Road.

In lieu of flowers, Malcolm requested that you take your family out for a nice dinner, and spend time with the ones you love.
