Margaret Elizabeth Aitkenhead Zeis

Margaret Elizabeth Aitkenhead Zeis, 94, of Lynchburg, formerly of Roanoke and Akron, Ohio, died Wednesday, Oct. 22, 2008, at Westminster-Canterbury. She was the wife of the late Paul Maxwell Zeis.

Margaret was born Aug. 22, 1914, in Akron, Ohio, the daughter of the late Christine White Aitkenhead and the late John Aitkenhead. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a son, Richard Alan Zeis.

Margaret is survived by her son, John F. Zeis and his wife, Joan, of Pennsylvania; her three grandchildren, Jennifer, Janet and Jonathan; and one great-grandchild.

Margaret was a member of Second Presbyterian Church in Roanoke. She spent many years as a hospital volunteer for the American Red Cross in Washington, D.C., during World War II and while living in Roanoke.

A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 25, 2008, at Rose Hill Burial Park in Akron, Ohio, with the Rev. Christy Ramsey officiating.
