He is survived by his wife, Emma (Joyce) Reider; children, Dennis Doss and wife, Wanda of Vera, Timmy Doss of Appomattox, Susan Smith and husband, Cliff of Red House and Robert Whorley and wife, Joanna of Appomattox; daughter-in-law, Sue Doss of Concord; sisters, Lois Rider of Dover, PA, Ethel Schrom of Shiloh, PA, Nancy Wise of Red Lion, PA, Dorothy Grothe of Maryland Line, MD, Eleanor "Patty" Armold of York, PA; brother, William and Vi Reider of York, PA; grandchildren, Jessica and Rick Pack of Spout Spring, Michelle and Matthew Bryant of Appomattox, Brandon Doss of Concord; great-grandchildren, Alex and Cody Neal, Rachel and Jon Peterson, Henry "Brock" Pack V, Jackson Cates, Nicholas Bryant, Elijah Doss, Isabella Doss, Ava Beckhouse, Chase Beckhouse and Polly Whorley; and numerous nieces, nephews and in-laws.

Ralph retired from Harris Corporation in 2012 after 46 years (GE) of service. (I did NOT say I worked 46 years.) He was a dedicated member and a past deacon of New Hope Baptist Church in Vera. Ralph sang in the choir at church on Sundays and sang special music many times. He found so much joy in music. Ralph also enjoyed serving and leading many individuals to the Lord. He spent many Sundays after church at the Appomattox Jail preaching the word of God to the inmates. His hobbies were playing golf, singing karaoke, and attending Billy's Dance Hall in Farmville. He had a cottage in Shickshinny, PA, that he loved to travel to where he had many siblings in the same Patterson Grove Campground. Ralph loved antique cars, especially his 1957 Chevy Belair and his 1953 Ford Victoria.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, January 7, 2024, at New Hope Baptist Church with Rev. Ron Moore officiating; burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m., Saturday, January 6, 2024, at Robinson Funeral Home and other times at his residence.

A special thanks to Lynchburg General Hospital providers, PCU staff, Oncology staff, Centra Hospice staff especially Wanda Townsend and an extended special thanks to Dianne Ferguson (caretaker) and Teressa Davidson.

In lieu of flowers please consider donating to New Hope Baptist Church, 6227 Old Courthouse Road, Appomattox, Va 24522.

Ralph, your spirit will always carry a place in my heart because of you my complaints have decreased and even on bad days I find a reason to smile, may you rest in eternal peace, and may your family find comfort in knowing that they get to carry the legacy of a great man with them forever. I am so sorry to hear about Ralph. Ralph was a blessing who came into the life of my Aunt Margie after the death of Uncle Dee. He was a good man who never knew a stranger and did many good things for others. My thoughts and prayers are with the family at this time of need. I will surely miss his wit.
