Robert Wrae Orr

Robert Wrae Orr, 72, of Lynchburg, died Monday, Nov. 24, 2008. He was the husband of Linda Bragg Orr for 45 years.

Robert was born Oct. 12, 1936, in Topeka, Kan., a son of the late James Wrae Orr and the late Dorothy Rankin Orr. He retired as administrative vice president of the Lynchburg Foundry which eventually became Intermet. He was also past president of Central Virginia Industries, and an active member of the Lynchburg Chamber of Commerce and the American Foundry Society.

In addition to his wife, Robert is survived by his daughter, Elizabeth Gutt and her husband, Eric, of Charlotte, N.C.; his son, David Edward Orr and his wife, Melissa, of Charlotte, N.C.; his grandchildren, Katie, Emma and Libby Gutt, and Karma Chapman; his nephew, Edward Orr of Houston, Texas; and his niece, Julie Condon of Lake in the Hills, Ill.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Elaine Belcher, and his brother, David Wrae Orr.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today, Nov. 25, 2008, at the family's residence.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2008, at Peakland United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Dr. Timothy R. Gerde officiating. A private family graveside service will be held in Spring Hill Cemetery.
