Ruby Duffey Crews Ruby Duffey Crews, 62, of Cook Ave., Brookneal, Va., passed away Thursday, June 27, 2013, at home. She was the wife of Michael Lynn "Mike" Crews Sr. Ruby was born in Halifax County, August 22, 1950, a daughter of the late Malcomb Lee Duffey and Mamie Wade Duffey. She attended Brookneal United Methodist Church and was a member of Ontario Christian Church. She was also a member of Brookneal United Methodist Women, Brookneal Jr. Women's Club then Brookneal Women's Club, and a retired employee of Campbell County Schools with 32 years of service. Ruby's generosity and kindness in gifts and thoughtfulness extended to all her friends and those she met throughout life. She answered the call of her Lord who said "do unto others as you would have them do unto you." In addition to her husband, she is survivied by two sons, George Malcomb "Mac"Abbitt (Nicole) of Halifax, Michael Lynn Crews Jr. of Long Island; six grandchildren, Jack Underwood, Sara Annabeth Abbitt, Samuel Kurtis Abbitt, all of Halifax, Christopher O. Crews, Matthew T. Crews, Allison D. Crews, all of Danville; two sisters, Julia D. Overby (Danny) of Keysville, Deborah "Dee"Duffey of Richmond. A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 30, 2013, at Henderson Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Matthew Killmon and Ms. Patricia Braxton with interment to follow in Wickliffe Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3 until 5 p.m. Saturday, June 29, 2013, at Henderson Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Brookneal and at the residence other times. Memorial contributions may be made to Centra's Dawson Inn, 2012 Tate Springs Road, Lynchburg, VA 24501, Centra Hospice, Brookneal Rescue Squad and Brookneal Volunteer Fire Department.
