Samuel Lavender Obituary

Samuel H. Lavender, Jr. Virginia Beach - Samuel H. Lavender, Jr., 60, passed away on 04 March 2013. He was born in Lexington, VA in 1952. He was the son of the late Samuel and Dollie C. Lavender. He was pre-deceased by his first wife, Glenda Dayle, and 11 aunts and uncles. He is survived by his second wife (Barbara), sister (Cheryl), 3 sons (Timothy, Bryan and Justin), 1 daughter (Kristina), 2 nieces (Tanya and Ronielle), 9 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, and numerous cousins. Sam served in the U.S. Marine Corps, including two tours overseas. He started riding motorcycles when he was ten years old, spent 3 years as a professional motorcycle racer (sponsored by Firestone and Suzuki) and was acknowledged by fellow members of the VFW Riders of Virginia as the most experienced and capable rider they had ever met. Sam, Barbara and Timothy regularly participated in "Rolling Thunder" (the annual motorcycle Memorial Day salute to veterans held in Washington, DC). He made friends easily, and as a Master Electrician for 35 years, he was universally respected for his knowledge. A memorial service was held on 09 March at the VFW post in Norfolk. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

I have not seen Buster in many years. I knew him growing up in the same area and attending Pleasant View and Amherst High. My condolences to his family.
