Vercina Douglas

Mrs. Vercina H. Douglas, 89, of Amherst, passed away on Friday, July 16, 2021, at Heritage Hall Nursing Home. Vercina was born on July 26, 1931, to the late Victor Haynes and Mabel Richardson Haynes.

She was the devoted wife of the late Glen Harrison Douglas Sr. who was the love of her life, but God wanted an angel. She was preceded in death by six brothers, Robert, Eldridge, Sam, Frank, Lloyd, and Norman Lee, and two sisters, Berline Haynes and Louise Richerson.

She is survived by three devoted children, Glen H. Douglas, Delois Hendrix (Douglas Hendrix (d)), and Berlina Davis (Maurice), all of Amherst; one sister, Doris Douglas; three brothers-in-law, Joe (Florence), Roy (Mae), and Eugene (Sophie) Douglas; three sisters-in-law, Sadie Douglas, Shirley Dawson, and Pauline (Leonard) Dawson; six grandchildren, two devoted, Carlos Hendrix (Myia) and Natasha Hendrix, Libra Fraser, Michael Rucker, Lexus Paige, and Cerrone Davis (Sara); four great-grandchildren, Cayden Hendrix, Camia Hendrix, Makayla Davis, and Trai Davis; two great great-grandchildren, Trai Davis Jr. and Anovah Davis; and a host of loving relatives and friends.

She retired from Central Virginia Training Center with 18 years of service.

A service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, July 24, 2021, at Piney Hill Baptist Church with the Rev. Ernest P. Scott, Eulogist. Interment will be held in the church cemetery. Service of comfort rendered by Davis-Turner Funeral Service.
