Wendell Wright Obituary
W.T. was a graduate of Temperance High School, the University of Virginia, received a Master's degree from the University of Maryland, a theological degree from Southeastern Baptist Seminary, Wake Forest, NC, and held a Doctorate in Organizational Behavior and Social Psychology from the George Washington University, Washington, DC.
W.T. was a retired Army Chaplain, Colonel, (23 years) having served with the 101st and 82nd Airborne Divisions. He was the 3rd Brigade Chaplain, 82nd Airborne Division, in Vietnam.
W.T. was married to the former late Alice Massie and had three sons, five grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. His second late wife was Mary Ellen Swecker Smith, with whom he shared her son, three daughters, seven grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, November 4, 2023 in Harewood Cemetery.

My family and I were saddened to hear the passing of W.T. We were fortunate to spend time with him and Mary Ellen at the last family reunion. We will cherish the memory of W.T. driving us to the family cemetery, sharing his immense knowledge of the area and family history-for this, we will be forever grateful. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and loved ones.

W T WAS A GENTLEMAN´S GENTLEMAN. ALWAYS KIND AND THOUGHTFUL. HIS SMILE CAN LIGHT UP A ROOM. WOULD LOVE TO HAVE SPENT MORE TIME WITH HIM AND GLENN SOME OF HIS WISDOM. MY PRAYERS ARE WITH HIS FAMILY AND LOVE ONES.

I am so sorry to learn of the passing of W.T. He was a cousin but also a very good friend. He and Alice and Mary Ellen were so kind to me when I visited and W.T. was a wealth of knowledge and so willing to share family history as I researched our Camden and Wright lines. He was a good man who loved the Lord, his country, his family and friends. I pray that God will give comfort and strength to his sons, grandchildren and great grandchildren. May your loving memories of W.T. bring a smile to your heart.
