William Keen Obituary

William Thomas Keen Jr.

William Thomas Keen Jr., beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, entered into eternal rest on December 19, 2024, at the age of 70. Born on February 8, 1954, William-known to many as Bill-was a man of deep faith, enduring kindness, and a radiant sense of humor that touched everyone he met.

A cherished member of Thomas Road Baptist Church, Bill sang joyfully in the church choir for over 20 years, including performances in the iconic Living Christmas Tree. His love for music reflected his vibrant spirit and his devotion to his faith. Known for his signature phrase, "Keep the Faith," Bill's unwavering belief in Christ shaped his life and the countless lives he inspired.

A true gentleman with a sweet spirit, Bill brought warmth and laughter to every interaction. He was a friend to all, a dedicated sports fan, and an avid golfer. His talent and drive extended beyond his personal interests; he owned and operated a successful paint contracting business, earning the respect and admiration of his community.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, William Thomas Keen Sr. and Lena May Foxx Pankey. He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Carol H. Keen; his devoted daughters, Angela K. Marks (Danny) and Amy N. Keen; his brothers, Jimmie Keen (Frankie) and Ron Keen; and his treasured grandchildren, Kaitlyn N. Marks, Madelyn M. Addair (Alden), and Dylan T. Marks, to whom he will always be "Granddaddy". His family was his pride and joy, and his love for them was boundless.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 23, 2024, at 12 p.m. at Whitten Timberlake Chapel in Lynchburg, Virginia. Visitation will precede the service, beginning at 11 a.m. Pastor Rick Rasberry will officiate the celebration of Bill's life.

The family would like to express their gratitude for the support and love shown during this time. Whitten Timberlake Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.

In honor of Bill's legacy, his family encourages all who knew him to carry forward his message of hope and faith. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who were fortunate enough to know him.

Amy and family, My sincere condolences to you at this difficult time. When Amy started working at Bedford Memorial as a young graduate, I remember how much she appreciated her dad´s concern for her in getting to work in bad winter weather! I always felt he was a kind wonderful man to make sure she was safe. He will truly be missed by his family and friends.

So sorry to hear about Bill's passing. He was one of my first friends when I joined TRBC choir over 15 years ago. He was so friendly and welcoming. He was a great witness. He mirrored Christ in everything he did. Prayers for his family to have the peace that passes understanding. The best part is that we will get to see Bill again! Blessings.
