Andrew Nittoli Obituary

Nittoli - Andrew Joseph, died on August 16, 2025. Beloved husband of Julie. Predeceased by his parents; and brother,

Kenneth. Andy started his work career as a Field Engineer for Hazeltine, Corp., and worked with the Air Force. More recently, he retired after a 30-year employment at the Music Dept. and Staller Center at SUNY Stony Brook, where he was delighted to combine his brilliant engineering, recording and troubleshooting skills, with his lifelong love of music and dance. He was Awarded UUP Professions Award for excellence for his work. Andy was technical consultant to Cinema Arts Centre for over 40 years; as well as Southampton College, CW Post, SUNY Binghamton, Seiskya Ballet, et al, in the field of sound engineering and theater projection systems. Andy lived his life with integrity, compassion, enthusiasm, and grace; and was quick to help those in need. He was a beloved, unique soul who will be greatly missed and eternally loved. Memorial service to be planned.

There´s not a day that goes by that I don´t remember our dear friend Andy, my husband Richard´s friend for over 50 years! Moving to PA never deterred Andy & his wife Julie, they came every year for 10 years and then continued to come to visit me.

Yes, Andy was definitely one of a kind and I will miss him forever but now he is in heaven with his best friends Richard and Rick.

When I look out over the mountains and the horizon, I swear I see Andy & his pals looking down. Rest well friend, rest well, you are now home.

I met Andy on my first day at work in the Music Department at Stony Brook. We rode up in the elevator together, and his gentle smile was very reassuring. He was the true definition of a gentleman. He was calm, patient and always helpful. He set a good example and was loved by everyone who was lucky enough to know him. My condolences to Julie.

I am so grateful for having Andy as a friend and co-worker for more than 40 years. He shared his knowledge of audio engineering with me and he transformed media rooms and cars into fabulous musical environments that my family and I enjoy every day. I have such great memories with him, discovering audiophile recordings, going to the film festival with him and Julie, watching him perform Drosselmeyer in the Nutcracker. In a University full of experts, he distinguished himself as a Quiet and Kind authority. This was a man who could fix anything.
May he rest in peace.

Andy was a very nice soul with a live for good sound and good film . Enjoyable evenings watching silent films at the Art Cinema. He also knew his way around a BBQ grill. Good generous man, will be sorely missed.
