Angeline Agresti Obituary

Agresti - Angeline S., formerly of Copiague and Bay Shore, NY, died December 2, 2025, aged 102, at Bermuda Village, NC. Born in Albany, NY, to Italian immigrant parents who encouraged education and assimilation, "Angie" or "Ann" was an educator in one form or another throughout her long life. She was preceded in death by her husband M. Conrad Agresti, Jr and four siblings: sister, Sue McGraw; and brothers, Andrew, Anthony, and Joseph. Ann is survived by her twins, daughter, Carol; (Mark) Zimmerman of Raleigh, NC, and son, Michael Conrad Agresti (daughter-in-law Alice M. Weisz) of Virginia Beach, VA; granddaughters, Brigid Agresti of Arlington, VA and Kristen (Michael) McClelland; great-grandson, Michael McClelland III; and great-granddaughter, Kayleigh McClelland of Rockledge, FL. Ann earned high honors at Albany High School, followed by her attainment of a Bachelor Degree in Elementary Education from SUNY at Oneonta. While pursuing her degree, she aided the war effort helping Singer Sewing Machine, Co. manufacture bomb sight components. Ann continued her education through her working career by obtaining a Master of Science degree in Education Administration and Supervision from Hofstra and an advanced degree in Administration and Supervision from NYU. In 1944, Ann began a lengthy professional career with the Copiague school system. She advanced progressively over the ensuing 39-years from instructor of various subjects at all grade levels to leadership positions, culminating in Supervisor of Instruction and Elementary School Principal. Ann's legacy of exceptional service to students, parents, and staff continue to yield letters of appreciation and led to her memorialization in the book "Intimate Portraits of Old Copiague" â€" one of but a handful of educators cited therein. In retirement, Ann engaged in many interests including world travel, tennis, golf, duplicate bridge, mahjong, reading, and volunteer service. She was a volunteer broadcaster to the visually impaired through the North Carolina Radio Reading Service at Fayetteville State University and lent her leadership experience to serve as a mediator for the Cumberland County Dispute Resolution Center. Ann found these efforts especially rewarding and attributes her longevity and mental acuity to these athletic and intellectual pursuits. Ann became active in civic and community activities upon her relocation to Bermuda Run in 1989, beginning with election to the Board of Directors of the Bermuda Run Homeowners Association. She was an active member of the Nine Hole Ladies Golf Association and served several years on the Bermuda Run Country Club Board of Governors. Ann was often sought to hold positions throughout the Bermuda Village Retirement Center community's many associations and committees. Ann was an active member and long-time lector of Holy Family Catholic Church in Clemmons, NC, where a Funeral Mass is scheduled for Friday, December 19, 2025. Inurnment at Pinelawn Memorial Park, Farmingdale, NY at a future date. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or to a charity of the donor's choice. I knew Ann when I lived in Gates Four in Fayetteville. She was so intelligent and so vibrant! I left in 1987 and we kept in touch for a short time! We were both educators from New York. I know she will be greatly missed but her spirit will remain forever.
