Anthony Falanga

Falanga - Anthony J., life partner, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, Brooklyn Dodger fan and retired Justice of the NYS Supreme Court, went home to God on Friday July 5, 2024. Justice Anthony J. Falanga, a graduate of Brooklyn Prep, Georgetown University and the Georgetown Law Center, began his legal career in 1963 after several years as a Federal Narcotics Agent with the U. S. Treasury Department. He served in the Matrimonial Division of the Nassau County Supreme Court from 2000 through his retirement at the end of 2011. Prior to his 1999 election to the New York Supreme Court Justice Falanga served as a District Court Judge for five years, handling a myriad of civil and criminal matters. During this tenure in the Supreme Court, in January 2004, Justice Falanga was appointed Supervising Judge of the Nassau County District Court. Before becoming a judge, Justice Falanga was active in general litigation in the private practice of law for over three decades dealing with both civil and criminal matters in State and Federal Courts. He was an 18B panelist for over twenty-five years. After seventeen years on the Bench, Justice Falanga returned to the private sector with Jaspan Schlesinger Narendran, LLP as a Partner and as Chair of the firm's Family Law and Matrimonial Department, engaging in litigation mediation and arbitration. Justice Falanga is a long-time member of the Nassau County Bar Association, the Nassau County Criminal Courts Bar Association, and a board member of the Nassau Lawyers Association of L.I., Inc. as well as EAC and the Columbian Lawyers of Nassau County. Justice Falanga is survived by his wife Barbara, three daughters, Carol O'Shea, Catherine Falanga and Lynn Michaels as well as seven grandchildren and a great granddaughter. Visiting Sunday 4-8PM, Monday, 2-4 and 7-9PM at Leo F Kearns Inc, 445 E. Meadow Ave. Mass of Christian burial Tuesday, 11AM Our Lady of Lourdes R.C. Church, Massapequa Park. Interment at the Cemetery of the Holy Rood, Westbury NY.
