Miesemer - Arthur Curtiss, 92, of Lake Grove, NY, passed away August 26, 2025. Arthur was born August 30, 1932 in Oceanside, NY. He was the son of Charles and Eleanor Miesemer; predeceased by two brothers, Robert and Donald. He is survived by a sister, Jane Barile, of Boca Raton, FL. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Caroline Plaia, in 2019 after 42 years of marriage. He was predeceased by his former wife, Pauline Jackson Roenbeck, in 1997. He is survived by three children, Debra Bonawandt (Karl), deceased son-in-law, James Tucek, in 2011, Arthur Jr. (Heidi) deceased daughter-in-law in 2021, William Uhlig (Jennifer). He is survived by seven grandchildren, Jason Miesemer (Amanda), Bronwyn Bocchetti (Marc), Kaitlyn Tucek Tripodi (Matt), Derek Shepherd, Jessica Uhlig, Britni Uhlig, Michael Uhlig; and six great-grandchildren, Julian, Annalise, Nico, Rowan, Vincent and Emerson. Arthur was a proud Sergeant in the United States Marines, who fought in the Korean War. He was a circulation supervisor for Newsday, employed for almost 40 years. Arthur and his wife enjoyed travel and vacations in the Caribbean islands. Arthur loved spending time with his family and entertaining by cooking for all. His book of recipes left for the family will be cherished and shared. Arthur loved his German Shepherds and had several throughout the years. His sense of humor was priceless as he loved to play tricks with his grandchildren, and all his many Roses are Red poems were saved by them. Arthur was a loyal Mets and Giants fan for many years. He was very interested in history and military history. He had a wealth of knowledge regarding the subjects and loved to share facts. He will be deeply missed by his family and all those who knew him. Visitation will be held Monday, November 10, 2025 from 10 to 12AM at St James Funeral Home, 829 Middle Country Rd., St. James, NY. Interment to follow at Long Island National Cemetery, 2040 Wellwood Ave., Farmingdale, NY 11735. In lieu of the gift of flowers, a donation is suggested to one of Arthur's favorite charities: VFW,
