Barbara Pick Obituary

Pick - Barbara Joan, beloved wife of the late William A. Pick, died peacefully with family by her side on May 4, 2022.

Barbara is survived by her children, Gary (Sharon) Pick and Susan (Matt) Lamorte; her grandchildren, Justin (Alyn Kiel) Lamorte and Melanie (Brett) Cabrera; her sister-in law, Connie (the late Richard) Rode; and her nephew, Michael Rode. Barbara. Cherished daughter of Mary and Walter Rode, was born and raised in Bayside, Queens. She was always highly spirited and ambitious from her childhood years and all throughout her life. Upon graduating from Bayside High, she attended secretarial school and secured a coveted position at Time Life magazine in NYC. In 1955, Barbara married her high school sweetheart, William Pick, and moved out to Huntington Station, "the country" as she liked to call it, where they would spend the remainder of their lives making a home for their children and in 1976, establishing a successful business together. Along with their son, Gary, Crystal Mirror and Glass became a booming business in town, always buzzing with enthusiastic customers and friends, who frequently stopped by to say Hello. Barbara, along with her husband, Bill, was a sharp business owner and took great pride in its success. For her, family always came first. Her parents, husband, children and their spouses, brother, sister-in law, nephew, grandchildren and their spouses, were all her pride and joy. In every aspect of her life, Barbara worked tirelessly with her husband to provide every opportunity for their children and grandchildren, to balance a thriving business, to entertain family and neighbors who became part of their family and to care for their aging parents. Barbara was truly an inspiration in every sense of the word. She was adored by her family, friends, and everyone who knew her. She will be truly missed but will live on in our hearts and memories forever.
