Thinking of her talent and friendship everytime I look at the pictures hanging of my children. Never had any taken again. I can't imagine how big Catherine is now - a young lady. I am sure she knows how awesome her Mama was. I know this family misses her. Rest easy girl.

To Carens Family,
I just today found out that Caren had passed away. I was shocked as I didn't even know she was ill. She has taken photos of my son since he was six months old and he is now 18. He was very shy, but she always managed to get him to relax and got great pictures. She did such beautiful work, and was always so nice and cheerful. I was going to contact her about taking his pictures in the spring when he graduates from high school. I mentioned this to a friend who informed me of her passing. Caren will remain with us, as I will see her each time I look at a photo she has taken. She will alsways be a part of our lives. She touched do many families and will be greatly missed by all.

I passed by the shop today and saw it was for sale. I just figured that Caren needed a bigger spot. Never, in a million years, would I think that the cancer she was fighting had beat her. I mentioned the closing of the store to my friend and she informed me of Caren's passing. I cried for her - how much she loved that baby. I loved looking at the portraits to see how she had grown since our last visit. She had become a staple in our home - all the beautiful photos from the birth of my children, now 14 and 11. Everyone commented on her work - she was such a gifted photographer, she would say she got our cat to smile! I cannot imagine the pain her family is feeling right now. I just want you to know how sorely we and so many other families will miss her as she had become part of our lives.

It is with great sorry and gratefulness for all the years we came to know Caren. Caren photographed our family since we moved to Smithtown. I think over 24 years we had a Christmas photo taken by Caren!! They line the wall up our staircase and now will not only remind us of how small the children were but how lovingly Caren captured there uniqueness each year!! We will miss her. We send our sympathy and prayers with the hope that your loved ones will minister to your saddened hearts.

Dear Caren's family,
I just found out today about Caren's passing. Looking at these entries, I realize she had passed a while ago. I only found out she was sick when we had our annual Xmas pictures scheduled, and received a call the day of ,explaining that she was sick and could not do the pictures. I felt bad at that time, but was hoping she would pull through. We did not know how bad she was. She was a great photographer, and we will truly miss her. I look at the portraits she has taken, everyday, because she was an artist and I placed all the portraits on my walls through out the years. She was so talented. I can't believe she's gone. I'm so sorry that this is so late coming to all of you, but I just found out today. Our sympathies go out to all of you.!!!

Dear Caren's Family - I just found out today about Caren and I am still shocked and saddened by the loss of one great person. I have had the honor of Caren taking pictures of my children for 21 years. Last year I recently got my lastest picture (a poster size) of my children 21 & 17 and am so happy I did that. I have Caren's memory in every room of my house. My sincere prayers and thoughts are with you and all of Caren's family. Joanne Stockman

To Randy, Catherine and Family,
Even though I only knew Caren for a few short years, how she touched my family and I was amazing. Her smile and beauty would light up a room and her laugh was priceless. When we went to North Carolina this summer we had an hour long conversation on the couch and it was beautiful. I will treasure it forever. Randy is an awesome guy, whom I am proud to call a friend. Catherine is a beautiful girl who will never forget her Mother as all of her cousins, family and friends will make sure her memory and love will last forever. The pictures she took of my children that hang on my walls will always remind me of her and that beautiful smile. Caren you will be truly missed by all who got to know you. I will see you again because we have a card game to finish. Love Always, Tommy

To Caren's Family,
I had the pleasure of meeting Caren this summer, and will never forget her. She was referred to me by a friend to take a once in a lifetime family portrait of my family; all 20 of us, 5 siblings and their families. One came from California, and another from Florida. We had the pictures taken as a gift for our parents who turned 80 & 85 this summer. The photos were spectacular and my parents were so happy with them. The portraits hang in their living room in Florida and they see them everyday and smile.
Caren was a terrific photographer, but an even lovelier lady. Please accept my deepest sympathy and I hope the wonderful memories you have will help you get through this difficult time.
Sincerely,
Kathleen Miceli and family

To Caren's family and friends,
I found out today about Caren's passing. Caren has photographed my family for the last ten years, and has become such an important part of our life. When I returned home today, I realised that her photos hang in almost every room in my house. Knowing Caren and having her artwork in my home is such a special gift. I will always treasure her kind spirit and thoughtfulness. When I told my daughter Christy, she said that she misses Caren already - I feel the same way.
Please accept our deepest sympathy.

For all who knew and loved Caren,
A sister's love is sometimes taken for granted and also at times even goes unnoticed. However I was fortunate enough to realize how much my sister loved me and I think she knew how much I loved her. It wasn't always in words and now I realize that actions do speak louder than words. I have worked with my sister since 1991 when she first opened her studio in St. James and have worked with her ever since. Over the years Caren and I not only became closer as sisters but we began a friendship that will remain forever in my heart. My sister touched so many peoples lives through her amazing talent as a photographer and touched their hearts through her kindness and her beautiful spirit. She was not only an amazing photographer but she was a wonderful wife and an awesome Mom. My brother inlaw Randy is a remarkable man who my sister loved and adored. Caren has passed on and taught me so many things I will cherish forever and will do my best to pass them on to her daughter Catherine. Although my neice is only 5 years old she has the strength and resilience her Mother had. She will survive because her Mother was a survivor, she will fight to get through the tough times because her Mother was a fighter and she will always be loved because her Mother loved her. Caren was loved by all and will be missed by all who loved her. Her legacy will go on through all of the stories we have to tell and all of the photos she graced us with. There is a saying when someone needs to be replaced that those are "big shoes to fill". In Carens case it would be her slippers that she always wore at work and in that case those are some pretty big slippers to fill! She will be irreplacable in my heart and in the hearts of her other sisters, brother, father, husband, daughter and all of her family and friends. I will miss Caren more than I can express in words and my life will never be the same without her in it.

To my dearest friend Caren and her loving family...
Words cannot express the loss I feel since your passing. I am not at all surprised how many loved you and are grieving your passing because you were truly one of a kind, with an amazingly selfless heart. Like one of your favorite songs, "Heart of Gold", those who knew you knew you had one.
Caren's love for life and people shined through her smile. When we met at age 13, I knew I had found a forever friend. Caren was a beautiful person inside and out. She gave without asking, she loved people for what they were and never asked for more. She was my very best friend, she was my maid of honor and the Godmother of my youngest son. Caren and I had a very special bond and although I moved away after 5 years of meeting her, our friendship remained stronger than ever and our bond as well. We lost our Mother's the same year.. we helped each other get through that and created yet another special bond...We shared our happy memories together as well as life's our challenges and struggles.
Caren met the love of her life and called me to tell me how they had finally got together. She was so in love with Randy and for so long. They joined us on the cruise to St. Thomas when my husband Kevin and I were married. I knew then that Caren and Randy were soul mates and totally in love with each other... their love was even more apparent a year later when they also tied the knot.. Caren was a glowing beautiful bride and I was so overwhelmingly happy for her and Randy. I knew what I had just witnessed was two wonderful souls uniting and becoming one... They were truly one.. Caren also loved her work, she put her whole heart into it, she loved children and photographing them, she had a way of lighting up a room with her smile...and I was never happier for anyone in my life than the day she called me and I learned we would share our first pregnancies together...she would have her sweet Catherine Rose just a few months after my sweet baby Michael. It was bittersweet because her illness came back to rob her of one of the happiest times of her life, but she took it in stride, just as the Caren we all knew and loved and she made the best of it. She loved that little girl with all her heart and soul and I guess that is the part that breaks my heart the most, but I know that Caren's family and Randy's family will make her life so very special and will let her Mommy's wonderful memories and photographs be apart of her life as well. I have some special moments I will share too..
There will truly never be another like Caren. The strongest woman I have ever known...I have never known anyone that could smile through the cards she was dealt, but she did it everytime. She was a rock, she was everyone's rock...She was the glue that kept us all together, she was the most amazing individual that anyone knew her was blessed to have met.
My heart today not only breaks for the loss I feel, but for the loss that her wonderful family on both sides, especially Randy and Catherine are dealing with. I know Caren is in a better place and although I feel the loss of her life, I also know she is still with us in spirit and her love is with us everyday. Someday I will see my best friend again, until then she will be apart of my life in the precious memories I hold close to my heart.
