Catherine Sheehan Henninger

HENNINGER-Catherine Sheehan, 72, of Elizabethtown, PA, passed away peacefully on February 16, 2017 at the Masonic Village surrounded by family, her Jack Russell companion, Danny Boy, at her side. Born in Floral Park, New York, she was the daughter of the late Daniel and Helene O'Connor Sheehan. Catherine enjoyed traveling, especially to spend time with family, and was a devoted, loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She had a knack for bringing people together, professionally and socially. Her passion, planning skills and sunny personality helped make every event, party, meeting or special occasion magical and memorable. Early in her life she worked for over 10 years at Abraham & Straus Department Store and ended her career in real estate. Catherine spent most of her life on Long Island, including 20 years in Smithtown, but enjoyed becoming a resident of Little Egg Harbor, NJ for 16 years until Superstorm Sandy gave her a reason to move closer to family in Lancaster, PA. Catherine is survived by daughters: Elaine Henninger Box of Lancaster, PA and Amanda Lillian Henninger (Bradley Garfield) of Philadelphia, PA; and by grandchildren: Rebecca Catherine Box, Connor Duncan Box, Kenneth Bohumir Box and Lillian Henninger Garfield. She is also survived by nephew Daniel Flynn Sheehan, Jr., (Michelle) and their children, Kyle and Daniella. She was preceded in death by brother, Daniel Flynn Sheehan. A celebration of Catherine's life will be held at a visitation from 26 p.m. & 7-9 p.m. on Friday, August 18 at Nolan & Taylor-Howe Funeral Home, 5 Laurel Avenue, Northport, NY 11768. A Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, August 19 at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church, 344 Main St, Northport, NY and interment will follow at St. Philip Neri Cemetery. The family requests that to honor Catherine, those attending the services consider wearing the bright, joyous summer colors, favored by her.
