MCELROY - Edward Joseph, age 94, a resident of East Meadow, NY for 63 years, died peacefully on December 22, surrounded by loving family members and caretakers. "Pop" will always be remembered for filling his home and his family's lives with love, laughter, faith and music, and for how he enjoyed leading countless family sing-a-longs. Most of all, his family will remember and cherish the unending love and joy shared between Nora and Edward for more than seven decades. Ed was most proud of serving his country during WWII in the Navy aboard the USS Tallulah (AO-50), and he enjoyed many years as a member of the St. Raphael choir. Ed is predeceased by his loving wife, Nora (nee George). He is survived by their five adoring children Edward (Sophia), Michael, Mary, James (Donna), and Anne (James). Ed was also a devoted grandfather to 12 loving grandchildren: Nicole (Michael), Melissa (Rachel), Edward (Lucy), Brian (Kim), Jenni (Steve), Nick (Jackie), Matt (Christine), Grace, Rose, Christy (Hillary), Kevin, and Michael. He also leaves behind 10 great grandchildren and many loving nieces and nephews. Ed is predeceased by his parents Ellen (nee Murray) and James, and his five siblings: John (Millie), James "Gerry" (Marsha), Eugene (Alice), Mary (Walter) and Lawrence. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, all services are private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to Pronto of Long Island Inc., 128 Pine Aire Drive, Bay Shore, NY 11706.
