With deep sympathy to your family, I would like to share a warm memory we shared...
During my year as President of The Junior League of Long Island I had the pleasure of bringing Ibbie to the League to see all the renovations that had been done. We slowly helped her up the stairs where she sat there marveling at the changes and was so happy to see that we were all still at "IT". It must have been surreal to sit there after all this time and see that she had started a movement that would last all these years. She looked so proud.
We had lunch across the street at Citron where she knew the manager Richard Grace who she called "Dicky". She'd known him as a little boy. We all laughed and she told me how his mother was as much a founding mother of the League as she was and she just got the position because they had to name someone as the leader. She shared plenty of stories which I will always cherish.
She was in her 90's then and still had plenty of life left. She is just an amazing and humble person...what inspiration one life can give...Ibbie embraced those in need and found solutions. She helped create a vehicle for all of us to follow in her footsteps. She really embraced change and I am glad to have known her. Her full devoted life and name will live on. With love and admiration...Goodbye Ibbie <3
