George Hannau Obituary

Hannau - George Patrick, was called to our Lord on October 14, 2025, at the age of 89. George graduated St. Patrick School in Miami Beach, FL, and the University of Miami in Coral Gables, FL where he was a member of Kappa Sigma fraternity. It was there that he met and married the love of his life, Patricia Ann Brack, with whom he would stay wed until her passing in 2015. After graduating college, George served as a lieutenant in the US Army. While in the US Army Reserves, George was promoted to Captain. George moved to Plainview, NY, and made his career as a top salesman selling postcards and color brochures to the hospitality industry.

Outside of work, George was active in the community. As a proud member of the Plainview-Bethpage Lions Club, he served as a courier making deliveries of corneas to eye banks located throughout Long Island. George particularly enjoyed presenting third graders in the Plainview-Old Bethpage school district with dictionaries personalized with each student's name. Additionally, George served as a member and past president of the former Plainview-Bethpage Rotary Club, he served as a member of the Plainview Knights of Columbus serving St. Pius X R.C. Church and he served as a member of the Partridge Club providing scholarships to students in the hospitality industry. George is survived by his daughter, Lauri Hannau-Barry; brother, Michael Hannau; and grandchildren, Nicole, Michael, Alexis and Danielle. George was also blessed with five great-grandchildren named, Madison, Thomas, Agatha, Laura and Caroline. Funeral services will be held at 10:30am on November 1, 2025, at St. Pius X R.C. Church, Plainview, NY. Interment to follow at the Episcopal Church of St. Margaret, Plainview, NY.
