Gregory Andrea Obituary

Andrea - Gregory Seward, 65, of Locust Valley, formerly of Brookville, passed away on April 22, 2025, after a long illness. He was the beloved husband of Michele D. Andrea for 28 years; and a devoted father to Isabella, Gregory Jr., Charles Buckley, and Colton. He is also survived by his cherished brothers, Frank III "Tim" (Donna), John (Joanne), Douglas, and Kyle; as well as 12 adored nieces and nephews. Greg was a proud alumnus of Friends Academy in Locust Valley, where he was a key member of the 1976 Long Island Championship hockey team. He continued his education at The New Hampton School in New Hampton, NH, excelling in both hockey and lacrosse. He played on the 1977 National Prep School Championship hockey team and earned All-New England honors in lacrosse. He went on to Hobart College, where he played a pivotal role on the 1980 NCAA Division III National Championship lacrosse team. Greg graduated in 1982 with a bachelor's degree in architecture, and later earned a master's degree in architecture from Virginia Tech in 1984. He pursued further studies at Harvard University's Graduate School of Design, receiving a graduate degree in 2006. A distinguished architect, Greg was a member of the National Council of Architectural Registration Board and the Long Island Chapter of the American Institute of Architects. He was honored with the Annual Award for Design Excellence by the New York State Institute of Architects. His work left a lasting imprint on the architectural landscape of Long Island and the Hamptons, recognized for its unique vision and artistry. Beyond his professional accomplishments, Greg remained passionate about sports throughout his life, playing men's hockey at the Beaver Dam Hockey and Skating Club in Locust Valley. He took great pride in raising his four children and spent many years coaching their youth hockey and lacrosse teams. Greg maintained close bonds with lifelong friends from high school, prep school, and college, often serving as the heart and soul of every gathering. Greg will be remembered for his unwavering dedication to family, his enduring friendships, his love of sport, and the timeless beauty of his architectural legacy. Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 27, at Dodge-Thomas Funeral Home in Glen Cove, NY, from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at the Chapel of St. Dominic Church in Oyster Bay on Monday, April 28, 2025, at 10:30 a.m., followed by interment at Locust Valley Cemetery. www.DodgeThomas.com

I am saddened to hear of Greg´s passing. Sorry I could not be there to pay my respects. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family. I had the pleasure to work on quite a few of Greg´s projects with Ted from CCTI. He was fun and interesting to be around . I enjoyed the conversations we would have about hockey. God Bless

I have known Greg for over 40 years. I will remember his wit and sense of humor. We could laugh at pretty much any situation. His smile and his friendship I will surely miss. My god keep you my friend.
