My deepest sympathy to the Colette family. I didn’t know of passing. I knew Gus and Laura as I worked for them many years ago at Twin County Appraisers in Massapequa. Couldn’t have had better employers and friends. You were a part of their family. Miss you

Laura - Learned about Gus after returning from vacation in SC. Please accept my deepest condolences.
Gus was a great guy. I enjoyed working with him on beach matters and would sometimes "bump" into him on the mainland. He even surprised me at a client meeting one day-you just never knew where he would show up! He knew everybody and had great stories to tell. I never left Gus without a smile on my face. I am fortunate to have known him.
He will be missed. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.
Best regards, Mollie FitzGerald

Gus was my Grandfather and to me THE greatest person I've ever known. Throughout my life he guided me to make the good decisions and gave me so much joy. The memories that I have with him are everlasting and inspire me to transfer this same joy and zest for life to my children and grandchildren in the future. Along with his Presidency in the Pigeon Club and Oak Beach Association, he was a successful businessman in the auto body insurance industry. Literally paving the way for how the business operates in New York State, he thrived on his work and always kept busy. My Grandfather was a gifted man in many other areas as well, including his baseball career and his political affiliations. His time and accomplishments on the field granted him the opportunity to play in the Pittsburgh Pirates farm system and almost a spot on the Inaugural New York Mets team. He was involved in one way or another in the Democratic Party for most of his life and was a man that stuck by his guns. He fought for what he believed in, which mostly was his family. My grandfather was the definition of a Patriarch, I for one have spent all of my 28 years looking up to him, admiring him, respecting him, and inspiring to be like him. He always had the back of the people he cared for which was mostly everyone, and never turned the cold shoulder to someone in need. He was brave and loyal, a man of integrity and honor. He would always tell me on holidays that the thing that made him most happy in the world was seeing the whole family together, and you could see it on his face that it really meant the world to him. I will miss that face, I will miss wisdom and knowledge his would share with me, I will miss his jokes and jovial attitude. With baseball being one of his true passions in life, I can be assured that he will be with me every time I step in the ballpark, he still will be calling pitches with me and dissecting the game we would together. My grandfather was a truly great man, a zenith of character that I can aspire to. I love you so much Pop-Pop and I promise to live the rest of my life in your honor and hope one day I can make you as proud of me as I am of you.

The Coletti Home was truly
"Home Away from Home" for SO MANY-
How often did I pass from my backyard to yours?
And ALWAYS was I welcome there!
The memories run deep and will forever be cherished!
Although all these years have passed,
I can still so easily recall
Gus' mischievous sparkling blue eyes -
I can still see his smile - hear his laugh!

My heart, my love is with each of you at this sad time.....
It is my hope and prayer
that the love and support of family and friends will help -
even in the smallest way -
to soften the grief of today.
"Love is Eternal and Death is but a Horizon beyond which we cannot yet see."
Rest in Peace Dear Gus, Rest in Peace!
(Yet why is it I somehow feel
Gus will be Partying with the Angels!!!)
