I was a Jesuit scholastic when I met Hap and he was always most gracious and encouraging of my talents as a Jesuit (he even tried to recruit me for Loyola College!). Hap truly lived his Jesuit charism honestly and openly. He will be missed.

Just a note to the Ridley family in praise of 'Hap'--I was a student of his at LeMoyne College --how do you thank someone for introducing you to the challenges of Virginia Wolfe, as well as his work with us in the dorms. Thanks

Hap,
I have followed your career with admiration and gratitude since we met at Frank Nash's first Mass in 1969. I always liked your tweed jackets, too. My mother (with whom you once corresponded) was no doubt among those greeting you on the other side. (She would be the one asking you to sign off on the insurance claim. Just tell her the statute of limitations has run). May we merrily meet in heaven.

Hap Ridley, while a student at Woodstock College in Baltimore, served on the staff of the Ecumenical Campus Ministry in the late 1960's with myself and others and provided a wonderful presence in the witness for Christ in seven urban colleges and universities. Marilyn and I extend our sympathies and prayers to the family and the Loyola College community.

Father, you are in our thoughts and prayers. Thank you for teaching us in the words of St Ignatius-to be generous, to serve, to give and not count the cost, to fight and not heed the wounds, to toil and not to seek to rest.

My oldest daughter attended and graduated from Loyola College under the tenure of Father Ridley. He provided a wonderful atmosphere for learning and growth. I thank him for his life of dedication to others.
Respectfully, Kurt S. Ryder

Father Ridley was a wonderful, warm man who cared so much for Loyola College. Father's First year at Loyola as President was my freshmen year. He was so kind to my family and he is always in my prayers.
May God Bless you! AMDG

God took you home too soon. Thank you for being a good Jesuit and a wonderful President. It was hard to fill Dr. Sellinger's shoes but you did a magnificent job. May you rest in peace. AMDG Joyce E.
