James M. Lysaght

LYSAGHT - James M. It is with deep and heavy sadness that we announce the death of James Michael Lysaght, of New York City, who passed away on October 2nd, 2014. He was born to the late Francis and Mary Lysaght, February 6, 1943, in Hewlett, NY. James graduated from Hewlett High School and Pace University. James worked for Dow Jones/Wall Street Journal as a Marketing Executive until his early retirement. He was an active member of Holy Trinity Church on West 82nd Street in NYC. He spent his life volunteering at the Soup Kitchen, and doing everything he could do to help the underprivileged. James was a loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend to all. James is survived by three children: Michael and Christine Lysaght, of Greenville, NC; Allison and Peter Rekus, of Smithtown, NY; and Jennifer Koch, of Northport, NY. He also is survived by five grandchildren: James Michael (Jake), Kate, Drew and Jon Lysaght, and Ava James Rekus. "Grandpa Jimmy" always enjoyed time with the kids and his family. He is also survived by his sisters Fran Reisert, Mary Stinson, and the late Alice Bennett, and their children and grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation) in honor of his granddaughter, Kate. JDRF, 6 Broadway, 14th Floor, NY, NY 10004. A viewing will be held 2-5 p.m. at The Branch Funeral Home, 190 East Main Street in Smithtown, NY on Sunday, October 5th. A service will be held at 9:45 a.m. on Monday, October 6th at St. Patrick's RC Church, 280 East Main Street, Smithtown, with the burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery, 4902 Laurel Hill Blvd, Woodside, New York. www.branchfh.com
