I went to junior and senior high school
with Joe. He was always honest and hard-
working. He'd been in the fire department
for as long as I could remember. He will
be remembered for being involved in the
West Islip Community.

Joe worked for me and I can say he was smart, hard working, sensitive, caring, considerate and extremely humble. Joe was extremely well liked by everyone he made contact with. His level of respect for others was evident with every encounter he had. His manners were impeccible and he was a shining example of how a true gentleman should act. Because he was so humble Joe may not have realized but he was "North Fork Bank Security"-everyone knew who they could count on for the correct answers and who the "go to guy" was if you had an emergency or needed something done in a hurry. Joe always was there at the ready and never lost his composure. Joe I just want to thank you. I will never forget you. My prayers and condolences to your family for their loss.

Joe and I first met when we worked together in North Fork Bank's Security Department. What started out as a working relationship quickly turned into a friendship. We had both moved on to other job opportunities and I'm happy to say we remained friends. We exchanged emails and phone calls right up until the end.
I will miss the man I shared many moments with but have my memories that will continue to bring a smile to my face. Joe was a family man and was so proud of his family. I had the pleasure of having Joe and his family at my house for a Memorial Day Bar-B-Que two years ago.
Joe, may you have found the peace you have been searching for.
Your Pal~

My sincere sympathy to the DiPalma family. I had known Joe from the Burn center Steering Committee. He always had a smile on his face and a good word for everybody.
He was truly one of God's Angels and will be missed. West Islip has lost a sincere asset to the community. May his memory keep on living through his Fire Department Family! Now he is in heaven keeping it safe.
God Bless You Joe. Chief, Associate and most of all Friend!

I'm incredibly sorry about your loss. I saw Mr. DiPalma a lot from the end of the summer to the end of the year. He was truly a great guy and helped other people a lot. Im really sorry you have to deal with tragedy, and I offer your family my deepest condolences. I'm very sure he will be missed. He helped my father a great deal with his election and I am forever grateful for that. I was lucky to have met him, he gave off this very happy presence, and he didnt like to stop working. I'm incredibly sorry for your loss and there will not be anyone like him. May he rest in peace.

You will be truly missed by so many, as you touched so many lives with your enthusiasm and love of our small community. You were always so helpful when anyone or any group needing direction or help stepping up for the betterment of our town. Such a warm, friendly, caring man-treating everyone with respect. Making everyone feel included.Even now, you remind us how powerful words can be! You seem to have stood tall behind yours. I hope your life stands testimony to how all of us should slow down, treat each other better and focus on the good in our neighbors.
You were a community leader I was proud to know and deal with when Long Island children needed a humble friend to get the word out on what they were lacking.
May God Bless you as you watch over , your daughters and wife !
