Moks - Joseph Vincent Jr., of Commack, NY on February 23, 2024 at the age of 85. Beloved husband of Helen. Cherished father of Karen, Guy and Pamela (Don). Adored grandfather of Jennifer and Benjamin. Loving brother of Marie Phelps, Robert and the late Thomas. Reposing Friday, 5pmâ€"9pm at Commack Abbey, Inc., 96 Commack Road, Commack, NY. Mass of a Christian Burial Saturday, 9:45am at St. Matthew's R.C. Church, Dix Hills, NY. Interment 11am Chapel at St. Charles Cemetery Farmingdale, NY. Joe was always a brilliant student, having graduated from High School at the age of 15 (skipping 2 grades) and moving on to Brooklyn Polytechnic Institute, where he earned his original BS in Electrical Engineering. He went on to earn a Masters in Electrical Engineering from Brooklyn Polytech, and an MBA from Adelphi University. Following that, he earned his Professional Engineering License from NYS. He was always proud of his military background as a 1st Lt. in the Army Corps of Engineers. During his initial service at Ft. Belvoir, he served as a platoon leader. In 1963, he began his career at Grumman in Bethpage as a project engineer. He eventually became a group head on many projects, including the Lunar Expedition Module (LEM) for Apollo 11. As an RF Engineer, he was involved with radar and antennas on several Grumman planes, his favorite being the Tomcat. He was recruited by Dorne and Margolin in 1978, where he advanced to serve as Vice President of Operations. Joe, along with his wife Helen, took the entrepreneurial route to become owners of their own company, Wayne Integrated Technologies. They built the company from a simple machine shop into an engineering and manufacturing company capable of servicing both NASA and the United States Government, as well as the premier contractors in the Aerospace and Defense sector. Joe was a competitive rifleman while in college. He was invited to the competitive marksmanship program, where he excelled. He was a Master Class rifleman again with the Grumman rifle team, garnering countless trophies for his expertise. Joe was an avid bridge player. He and his wife Helen won several trophies at the competitive Bridge Club at St Matthew's Church in Dix Hills, NY.
He loved golf and was active in the Grumman Golf Club. In his leisure time, he played golf with his grandson, Benjamin, who in turn hopes to continue his grandfather's love for golf. Although his time at Grumman consisted of a great deal of travel to the West Coast and down South, he still managed to coach his son Guy's track team. He was a wonderful father and grandfather. He spent many happy days at movies, local fairs, Chuck-E-Cheese, and all the graduations of his grandchildren Jennifer and Benjamin. We miss you. We love you. We will have a hard time getting along without you.
