SCHUTTA - Joseph J. of Malverne, previously of Greenpoint, Brooklyn, NY, died peacefully on May 15, 2021. He is survived by his wife of 54 years Carol (Parker), his 6 children Sally Schutta, Dorothy Micho (Bradley), James Schutta (Megan), Maureen Schutta, Margaret Grismer (Richard), and Joseph Schutta (Brittany). In addition, he leaves behind his 14 grandchildren whom he adored and spoiled with cookies and ice cream. Joe served in the USMC at the end of WWII and during the Korean War. He went on to a distinguished 40 year career with the NYPD. Following his retirement, Joe proudly began his final career as Lord of the Lunchroom at Our Lady of Lourdes, Malverne. He was an active member of the parish serving in its St. Vincent DePaul charity works and food pantry. Family will receive friends Wednesday and Thursday 4-8 PM at the St. Agnes Parish Center, 26 Quealy Place, Rockville Centre. Funeral Mass Friday 10:45 AM at Our Lady of Lourdes, Malverne. Interment private at Calverton National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Vincent DePaul Malverne or the Tunnel to Towers Foundation are greatly appreciated. I had the pleasure of knowing Joe thru IPC during the 60's. Everyone loved & respected him. A true leader, humble and lived his faith every day. Need more men like Joe. My condolences to Carol & his family.
