In the 1980s, when Katie's brother Jack and I worked at USA Today in Washington, D.C., Katie came to visit. Jack was so excited for her arrival and I was nervous to meet this sister about whom he raved. Well, of course, Katie turned out to a Curry -- friendly and warm. And she was a talent. I remember she and Jack did a soft shoe while they sang "Elegance" from "Hello Dolly." Both of them knew all the words and all the steps. Their spur-of-the-moment performance in Jack's living room took my breath away. I never had the opportunity to see Katie again but I'll always remember her.

Tommy, Caileen and Cara,
I am so saddened by Kate's passing. She was an amazing person. Working with her at St. Gregorys and Sylvan are memories I will always look back on with a smile and a chuckle on some occasions. One memory I have to share was the time we were making pumpkin bread at the nursery school. I had opened the can of pumpkin on both ends and forgot, so when I picked up the can, the pumpkin went plop onto the floor. Kate took off like a shot because she burst out laughing. Well we managed to scrape the top layer off the floor and presto your Mom came back into the classroom with fresh pumpkin. So many memories like this that I will cherish. I also loved our Survivor and Amazing Race recaps. I am so fortunate that I had her next to me in the classroom (St. Gregorys) and working at the tables with the higher math students (Sylvan). You cannot imagine how grateful I was to have her at Sylvan. Well yes you can because you know how legendary her math skills were. Quite a few times I have had to call her at home to help with my own kids math.
An amazing lady, friend, wife, Mother. She will be missed by many.
Love to you all,
Marcia Pescitelli
