Leonard Perlmutter Obituary

Perlmutter - Leonard, passed away on Sunday, February 3, 2008 in Altamonte Springs, FL. He was 88. Born in Brooklyn, NY, he lived in Brooklyn and Queens, then moved to Oceanside NY, then to Orlando, FL in 1979. He served in the United States Army from 1943 to 1946. A graduate of New Utrecht High School in Brooklyn, he was a machinist before entering the army. After the war, he worked for the United States Post Office for 30 years, retiring in 1979. He helped establish and was president of his local union and was also a member of the Jewish War Veterans and the Knights of Pythias (Oceanside Lodge 827). He was predeceased by his brother Arnold. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Winafred his brothers Oscar and David and his wife Audrey, his daughter Alice Kazin and her husband Gary, his son Mark and his wife Ilene, and his daughter Patricia, grandchildren Felicia and Perry Kazin and Hayley and Kara Perlmutter, and six nieces and nephews. Services will be held at Gutterman's, 8000 Jericho Turnpike, Woodbury, NY at noon Thursday. The family will sit shiva at the home of Mark Perlmutter in Nesconset, NY on Thursday, Saturday and Sunday evenings and at the home of Alice Kazin in Rockaway, NJ on Monday and Tuesday evenings.
