Devoted mother of Michael Halpern (Erin), Julia Fantasia (Matthew), Andrea Morale (Patrick), Theresa Morale (John), Sarah Bruckman (Luis), Jesse Halpern-Robinson (Gary), Amanda Parikh (Keyur) and Thomas Brown (Nicole). Proud grandmother aka Nana / Mara of 20 incredible grandchildren who she adored. Big sister of Regina Ruede (Edward), Frances Clinton, James Thomas (Tina), Margaret Thomas (James) and the late Mark "Bucky" Thomas Jr. Cherished aunt and cousin of so many who will deeply miss her. Also survived by her childrens' father, Sidney Halpern (Susan). Growing up in Carle Place, NY, Mary Anne attended St. Brigid's School in Westbury and was proud to be a member of the first graduating class of Holy Trinity Diocesan High School in Hicksville. A devout Catholic, Mary Anne volunteered throughout her entire life as a catechist. Mary Anne was born to be a mother (and grandmother) and she built a legacy of love with her very large family. Guided by her faith and devotion to prayer, Mary Anne overcame many obstacles throughout her life. Always looking for a way to help anyone in need, she worked as a "visiting angel" home health-aide before retiring and always gave whatever she could to support St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital. Mary Anne peacefully entered eternal rest after a battle with Pancreatic cancer. Reposing Sunday, May 22, 2-6 PM, at the Charles G. Schmitt Funeral Home, 3863 Merrick Rd., Seaford, NY. Mass of Christian Burial Monday, May 23, 9:45 AM, at St. Brigid RC Church, Westbury, NY. Interment to follow at Holy Rood Cemetery, Westbury.
