Nancy ENTENMANN Obituary

ENTENMANN - Nancy Lee (nee Drake), May 31,1930 - January, 12. 2014, was the youngest of three children born to Hazel and Arthur Drake. She grew up with siblings Jean and Kim in a small home in Bay Shore, NY. After graduating from Bay Shore High School in 1948, Nancy took a job in a local bank. It wasn't long after that when she married Charles Entenmann in 1951. After a short time in New Jersey while Charles was in the service, they returned home to Bay Shore so Charles could continue working in the family business. After having children, Nancy spent much of her adult life working at the family's bakery. Nancy and Charlie have three children,Susan Nalewajk (Robert), Barbara Thompson and Charles Entenmann (Wendy). They also have seven grandchildren and two great-grand children. They were married for nearly 63 years. Nancy balanced the roles of motherhood and working in the family business with great skill. She also volunteered much of her free time with the Suffok County Girl Scouts, a cause that was dear to her heart. In the 1980's, she and her husband moved to the Florida Keys to retire. They spent their time between their New York and Florida homes enjoying their grandchildren. Nancy passed away quietly with her family by her side. She will be missed. Visiting will be Thursday 2-4:30 and 7-9pm. at the Overton Funeral Home, Inc. 172 Main Street, Islip, NY. A funeral service will be held on Friday, 10am, at St. Peter's By-the-Sea Episcopal Church in Bay Shore, with internment following at Oakwood Cemetery, 3 Moffitt Blvd., Bay Shore. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Girl Scouts of Suffolk County (The Nancy Entenmann Fund; 442 Moreland Road, Commack, NY 11725; 631-543-6622) or the Great South Bay YMCA (200 West Main Street, Bay Shore, NY 11706; 631-665-4255).

Oh how saddened I am at the passing of your mom, dear Susie, Barbara, and Charlsie. So many wonderful memories of her and how I loved being with y'all as our moms played bridge, etc. Your mom was also my Girl Scout leader and she made scouting so much fun. Treasure those memories and know the Kaminskis only wish we could have attended the funeral, but we live in Florida. Hugs to you all and your sweet dad. You are in my thoughts and prayers. Love, Diane Kaminski Tice

I have many fond memories of Nancy and my mother and the Girl Scouts. Many years growing up in Bay Shore and working at Entenmann's with Nancy in the office, I remember the first time she let me key in entries to the old Burroughs machine, she was very patient with me. My heartfelt sympathies go out to Charles and the family. Sandy Trautwein nee Selleck, Palm Coast, Florida.
