Dorothy Piccirillo Obituary

PICCIRILLO - Dorothy (nee Halbert), 91, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 3, 2018. Dorothy was born in Brooklyn on January 15, 1927, where she met her future husband, Louis. Dorothy and Lou lived in Bethpage, LI, where they raised their 8 children. Dorothy (John) Keenan; Nancy (Rich) Villaume; Regina (Tony) Femminella; Christine (Billy) Acquavita; Louis (Tana) Piccirillo; Ursula (Dan) Walters; Elizabeth (Tom) Beaury and Frank (Cathy) Piccirillo. There was nothing more important to Dorothy than her family. She was a wonderful wife, mother and a beloved Maama to 27 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. Maama was known for her happy, outgoing, fun-loving personality and for giving and receiving the best hugs. She had a love for adventure and travel. This was evident by her completed goal to visit each of the 50 states and to acquire history and knowledge of each state. Some of the fondest memories that her children, grandchildren and many of their friends have is of times spent in her vacation home in the Hideout in the Poconos. Dorothy is predeceased by her husband, Lou and her siblings, Elizabeth, Jeremiah and Jean Paul. She is survived by her sister and best friend, Patricia and brother James. Dorothy was a beloved aunt to many loving nieces, nephews and godchildren. She was an extraordinary woman who was loved by all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Reposing at The Fredrick J. Chapey & Sons East Islip Funeral Home, 200 East Main Street (1-2 mile west of the S.S. Parkway, Exit 45W).
