Patricia Ann Chakmakian

1934 - 2015

CHAKMAKIAN - Patricia Ann "Pat", lately of West Babylon, NY. Passed peacefully on July 25, 2015. Born on June 25, 1934, she was the beloved daughter of Charles and Veronica Foster (nee Mcglaughlin). She was pre-deceased by her loving husband John C. Chakmakian, U.S.N., U.S.M.C., (d.1983), a decorated WWII veteran. Beloved mother to Kalema Muller, Veronica Sullivan, Mary Ellen Altieri, Ed- mond C. Chakmakian and Steven Chakmakian. Beloved grandmother to Jaimie Stehlin (d. 1994), Jennifer Fewell, Daniel Stehlin, David Muller, Brian Sullivan, Thomas Jason ("T.J.") Altieri, Nicole Altieri and Pearce Alexander Chakmakian. Revered great-grandmother to James, Josh, Jacob and Joseph Fewell, all of Oakdale, California; Hayden, Alexis, and Meridith Muller of Huntington, West Va. and Maggie Sullivan and Johnathan Wayne Sullivan of Chesterton Indiana. Pat married John Chakmakian in 1952 when she was 19 years old. He was nearly ten years her senior. They moved from Brooklyn , where a friend introduced them, to Hempstead, and later settled in Wheatley Heights, NY, where they raised their five children. A devout Catholic, Pat was very active at her parish, Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal in Wyandanch, NY ("OLMM"). Pat served as a Eucharistic Minister, volunteered at the outreach program, Christa House Hospice, and served as a model for her children, in whom she instilled a great sense of responsibility and reward for volunteerism and community service. In returning to the workforce, she studied to become an EKG Technician, which she worked as at Mid-Island Hospital in Bethpage, NY. Pat touched many lives with her smile and compassion. She will be remembered by her family always for her wit, twinkling Irish eyes, her ability to see the good in every soul she came in contact with, her abundance of love and her occasional enjoyment of a bourbon Manhattan straight up.
