I was co worker @ Teradyne San Jose, his destination that morning. I had flown that Exact same flight March of that year to return from Boston not wanting any plane stops as I was rookie my first solo. Peter was kind person you enjoyed being around even in work setting he made you feel comfortable, he enjoyed life. He was avid cyclist, I think of him when ever I see bikers about. He was a real family man and shared his love of family with us all. I always let people know that like heroes on flight 93 Peter would have been ready to " roll" if called upon to take the plane back to change its coarse if anything could have been done. Peter is so very proud of his family watching from heavens.. he will be in hearts today and every day.

I worked with Peter at Teradyne. I remember we were wait for him to arrive when we got the news that he was on the first plane. He was a very Kind soft spoken man who loved his boys and spoke of them often. After all these years I still remember him as if it was yesterday.

I worked with Peter at Teradyne. I remember a party meeting his new wife Rita, who'd just been spirited away to America her smile simply dazzled; they were so happy. I'm glad they had some years together to enjoy and build and have a family. I just happened to think of him all these years later. Memories don't die.

To the Family & Friends of Mr. El-Hachem,
I am so sorry for the loss of such a special person in your life.
When these tragedies happen; We often ask ourselves why bad things happen to good people? We can find comfort in knowing that pain & sorrow were never Gods original purpose for families. Soon he will end all suffering and restore peace & security to mankind. Psalms 37:10 & 11, Isaiah 45:18.

Today, 9-11-2013, thousands of motorcyclist from around the country rode to Washington, DC., to pay tribute to the victims of 9/11. We were given individual names of the victims to place on our clothing as we made our ride through and around Washington. It was my honor to carry the name of Peter Hachem.

I had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Hashem when I was a security receptionist at, Teradyne back in 2000 in, San Jose California. He was a kind person who always spoke when He walked into the building. He always had a smile on his face. I did not know Him personally but would see Him there at, work from time to time... I was sad when I learned that He perished in that plane crash. All I could think about was His Wife and Children and how selfish the terrorist were to take so many innocent lives. Rest in peace Mr. Peter Hashem

To the Hashem family,

I knew Peter in college, and only learned of his tragic death a few years ago from a mutal friend and old classmate. I was devastated, and still feel pain whenever I think of the very gifted, intelligent, warm and caring friend and brother of my college years. As a Greek-American from New Jersey who had spent her highschool years in Greece and had just returned to the US for college, I found in Peter a briend who understood what it was to be the product of two cultures that many times could not be understood by others. We had long, incredible converstations on the differences and so many similarities between the Greek and Lebanese cultures and cuisines, and he never forgot his "sister" when the "care packages" arrived from his beloved Mom.

I have wanted to write to you so many times these past few years, but I just couldn't find the words that would offer solace to you.

This year, on the 9th anniversary of the terrible loss of Peter, the realisation has come that it is not solace that I have to offer, but simply to share a fond memory of a special person that will always have a place in my heart and thoughts and a friend that I speak to my own sons about with pride and love.

I deeply regret having lost touch with Peter after moving back to Greece so many years ago. I regret not having the opportunity for my children and his children to meet and become friends.

I want you to know, however, that his memory is kept alive in this small, beautiful country called Greece that has also suffered many wounds from terrorism, though not on such a horrendous scale as 9/11. My lovely teenage boys and I always light a candle in Peter's memory on this sad anniversary.

To Peter's wife and sons: May you always be well, keeping his memory alive and strong, and may you live a full and happy life as a tribute to him.

Crossing the Bar

Sunset and evening star,
And one clear call for me!
And may there be no moaning of the bar,
When I put out to sea,

But such a tide as moving seems asleep,
Too full for sound and foam,
When that which drew from out the boundless deep
Turns again home.

Twilight and evening bell,
And after that the dark!
And may there be no sadness of farewell,
When I embark;

For tho' from out our bourne of Time and Place
The flood may bear me far,
I hope to see my Pilot face to face
When I have crost the bar.

There is such a feeling of respect for Peter Hasham in the words that have been written here about him. I know it must be difficult for you, his family to accept such a loss. I pray for you and hope that you are on the road to healing soon. So many months later we are still here thinking of the loved ones and wishing there was something we could do. Just know Peter and all the other Heroes have not been forgotten. God Bless

To the Hashem family,
It is January, 4 months after the tragedy and not one day goes by that Peter isn't in my thoughts and prayers. I see the many comments of my co-workers and I still find myself speechless, even after all this time. He was a wonderful person, funny, charming and fun to work with. He will never be forgotten by all of his friends at Teradyne. How lucky you are to have two carbon copies of him in your sons!

If you ever need anything - all you have to do is ask. God Bless.

To The Family of Peter Hasem:

One of my very best friends traveled to Ground Zero one week after the tragedy. With her she took a bracelet that bore the name of a fireman who was killed. A local jeweler is making a bracelet for each victim of the September 11 attacks. The purpose of the bracelets are not only to remember the victims, but to "wear it and share it" hoping the bracelet makes it back to the victim's family.
While there, my friend stopped at a fire house. She felt a strong need to pass on her bracelet. She walked in and the firemen were having their lunch. She left, but partway down the street, she felt that she should return. When she did a fireman met her at the entrance to the firehouse. She took the bracelet from her wrist and presented it to the fireman. The bracelet bore the name of his uncle.
When my friend returned, she told me this story and presented me with a bracelet. The name on my bracelet is Peter Hashem. I have worn this bracelet every single day since my friend gave it to me. When I wear it, it makes me feel good and gives me comfort.
I am traveling to Las Vegas in three weeks. When I first put the bracelet on, I told myself that Peter was going with me on my trip. An angel to look out for me during my first trip by air since the attacks. But, when I return home, it would be my greatest wish to send the bracelet to Peter's family.
Please e-mail me at [email protected] You are in my thoughts and prayers always.

We are very sorry for your loss of Peter. Our hearts cry with you.
America Cries
We see your sorrow-
and our hearts cry....
We can not erase your pain
but you do not have to face the anguish alone-for we-
-the American people-
are beside you.
We so desperately want to have the touch that brings you comfort,
the strength that gives you courage,
and the words to lighten your spirits.
And when we are left speechless
may the silence of our nation weave love into your hearts
to ease your sorrow.
May you find healing through our nation's strength as we-
-the American people-
face this difficult time together. Our hearts are with you. Teresa Jahn

To Peter's family and friends,
Peter Hashem was smart, able,
kind, decisive, warm, honest and
bold. And this only covers his
good qualities at work. I was
priviliged to work with him over
the last three years, and the success of the San Jose becoming
part of ICD owed much to Peter. He
was the kind of manager that
engineers dream of working for.
Including the way that his family
was never far from his mind. I got
to see a little of that part of him
one evening when my 4 1/2 year old
son came in to help me. Peter
talked to him straight, just like
any good parent talks to a child.
I will miss him. I counted him as
a friend. I can't think of any
words that might soothe such
a loss. But he would have said to
get over it and keep going, and
we shall. But I will never forget

To the Hashem Family -
Our deepest sympathies and condolences to you all. Carl worked with Peter at Teradyne for many years. Carl will always remember Peter as a wonderful co-worker and friend, and will miss him greatly. We also will always remember Peter for the role he played in our marriage. When we became engaged, Carl spread the good news at Teradyne. As we did not have a ring yet, Peter told us about the family's Jewelry store and then offered to accompany us to Washington Street and the Jewelry building to introduce us to his sister - helping us to get a beautiful ring. He was that kind of guy, generous, thoughtful and giving of himself, and his memory will forever encircle my finger.

Dear Abdo and the rest of the Hashem family,
In the BackBay Station today, I thought I saw Peter. I thought so much of your brother, as he helped me more efficiently assign engineers to work bug reports at Teradyne. We were in adjacent cubicles, and I often heard him counseling his employees as we raced to meet a release deadline. In the Software Managers' meetings, his comments were usually right on target, and we all relied on his humor to lighten up a sticky situation.
I pray God that we do not demean his innocent death by killing millions of other innocents. Bring the guilty to justice and deny them the victory of knowing others like Peter have died due to their madness. I grieve for you, Peter.

To the Hashem Family:

I knew Peter in college, living on the same floor in the dorms. The two biggest memories I have about Peter is how hard he worked to get that Engineering Degree. He knew the effort would pay off and build the foundation of the “American Dream” for this kid from Lebanon growing up in Lawrence. But my real memory was of Peter after 11 pm, after the books were closed and he’d kick back and enjoy life. To Peter’s family, no words can express your great loss. Just remember that he touched many people in his life, and even those, like me, who lost contact with him years ago will remember his smile, his laugher and his desire to get the most from life. Peace be with you.
