Prudence Albertus Obituary

Albertus - Prudence, of Brooklyn, NY, formerly of Stony Brook, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 14, 2024, shortly before her 92nd birthday. Born in Brooklyn on August 13, 1932, she was the daughter of Dora and Benny Silecchia. She was married to the love of her life, Alfred

Albertus, for 59 years before his death in 2011. Prudie was the beloved mom to four girls; predeceased by her oldest daughter, Donna. She is survived by her three daughters, Barbara Hausman (David), Carol, and Angela. She devoted time to caring for her four grandchildren, Elise, Michael, Ian, and Christin; vacationing with them, attending their dance recitals, school and sporting events, and showering them with presents every time she saw them! Prudie is also survived by two great-granddaughters; her loving siblings, Anne, Jeanette, Frank; and sister-in-law, Liz; and many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her godchildren, Sarah, Michael, and Ben. Her sister, Connie, predeceased her in 1997. Prudie

enjoyed a long career at Macy's Smith Haven as a manager and had a flair for dressing stylishly. She later worked as a travel agent while she and Al enjoyed traveling to Europe, Africa, and the South Pacific. Prudie will always be best remembered for her outgoing personality, hospitality, and culinary talents, as she was a superb cook, always preparing more than enough food for friends and family to drop in on a moment's notice. She would always ask, "Can you stay and have something to eat?" Arrangements by McLaughlin & Sons Funeral Home, Brooklyn.
