Richard Kammerling Obituary

Kammerling - Richard Richard Kammerling a caring husband, father, grandfather, and friend passed away November 21st, 2021.

He was born to Matthew and Rita Kammerling on March 18th, 1941. After graduating from Great Neck High School he attended Fairleigh Dickinson University. From there he served 4 years in the United States Air Force where he met his wife Rosalie Vajda.

Married 56 years, Richard and Rosalie raised 4 daughters Marisa Von Beeden (Mark Von Beeden), Anne Marie Kammerling, (D) Alicia Kammerling (D), and Natalie Garbedian (Michael Garbedian). And he was the proud Grandfather to Haley Kammerling, Jessie O'Hagan, Matthew Kearns, Ryan Kearns, Natasha Von Beeden, Raiden Garbedian, and Autumn Rose Garbedian.

For 53 years, Temple Beth El of Huntington had been a source of religious inspiration, where he served as President of the congregation and met many of his life-long friends.

Richard's career in the Integrated Pest Management Industry spanned over 50 years. As president and owner of RK Pest Management Services, he developed new pest control technologies, conducted pest management inspections, provided technical support, and designed food safety and IPM programs. Many of Richard's business relationships evolved into lasting friendships.

His memory will always bring smiles to our hearts when we remember his corny jokes, his sarcasm, his love of the Giants, and most importantly his family who he loved unconditionally.

Today, I find myself missing a great friend. Tomorrow will mark 3 years without Mr. Kammerling. I miss his personality, I miss that smile he had. Above all, I miss being able to pick up the phone at any time of day & being able to reach him to consult with him or enjoy his mentorship. And trust me- He ALWAYS answered that phone if you called him. That's what friends, true friends, do. I learned so much from Mr. Kammerling, yet he was also one of those special souls who you enjoyed talking with, no matter the subject. In a sense, Mr. Kammerling made me who I am today. Thanks for taking me under your wing, sir- You provided light when there was dark, you provided knowledge when I had none. Simply put, I hope I have lived up to your expectations & have made you proud, sir. I am forever in your debt

I first met Mr. Kammerling when I first got into the Integrated Pest Management field. I attended multiple pest control related conferences with him and he was always glad to hop on the phone and help me with any questions I ever had when it came to pest control. Although I first met Mr. Kammerling through a business contact, I very quickly considered him a life long friend and important mentor. The pest control industry has truly lost a legend, and I was very sad to learn of Mr. Kammerling's passing. May he rest in peace.

Mr. Kammerling was a great guy and neighbor. I will always remember playing basketball and football with him.
