Robert Edmund BILL

BILL - Robert Edmund (Bob), 72 of North Palm Beach FL and Bethel, ME died of heart failure on Sunday June 3rd. Bob had just spent a celebratory weekend at his 50th college reunion in South Bend, IN and was en route to his grandson's high school graduation in Cold Spring Harbor, NY He was born March 29th, 1940 to Joseph G. and Lillian Moran Bill in Mineola, New York. He attended Sacred Heart Academy and graduated Garden City High School in 1957. Bob attended The University of Notre Dame where he enjoyed a decorated college football career as a three year "60 minute man" starting on both offense and defense, while also playing special teams. He was the 26th overall pick and second of seven Irish football players chosen that year while selected in the second round of the 1962 NFL draft and was signed to a 2 year no-cut contract by the New York Football Giants. Bob then played in the 1962 College All Star Game in which the College All Stars played the NFL Champion Green Bay Packers. The next day Bob flew to Canton, OH to play in the Giants season opener. His promising professional football career began and ended that day with a knee injury. In 1972, Bob founded Robert E. Bill Associates, Inc, a Commercial Insurance and Risk Management Company. A talented and capable business leader, Mr. Bill served on many, Insurance Industry and not for profit boards. He later merged his business with HRH Insurance Brokers and was appointed their Vice Chairman of NY. Bob is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph G. Bill and Lillian A. Bill Bob is survived by his wife of 35 years, Joyce Skinner Bill, children, Robert Charles of Lloyd Harbor, NY Katherine A. Bill of Islandia, NY and Christian R. Bill of Stamford, CT . Beloved grandfather of Charlie, Maggie and Jack Bill all of Lloyd Harbor, NY. Bob is also survived by Brothers, Joseph G. and Michael M. Bill both of Indianapolis, IN Bo's gift was making all those around him feel special. His family and friends will deeply miss his enthusiasm for life's journey, passion for competition, and his unrelenting curiosity. In honor of Bob, there will be a visitation Monday June 11th, from 2:00-4:00 pm and 7:00-9:00 pm at Fairchild & Sons in Garden City. Funeral Services will be held at St Joseph's Catholic Church on June 12th at 10:00 am. Immediately following, Bob will be laid to rest at Holy Rood in Westbury. In Lieu of flowers memorial contributions in Bob's name can be made to The Cleveland Clinic Heart & Vascular Institute.
