BRAND - Russell, 68, lifelong resident of Lindenhurst passed away July 15th of natural causes. He was preceded in death by his parents Agnes and Werner, lifelong residents of Lindenhurst. He is survived by his brother, Larry (Karen) of Edmond, OK. Russell was a choir director and organist at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Amityville for over 40 years. He also was an accompanist of the Babylon chorale as well as Seaford High School and middle school chorus and played for numerous Long Island Churches. He will be missed by family, friends and musical colleagues. Viewing will he held on Wedenesday, July 21st from 4-7 PM at Johnstons' Wellwood Funeral Home, 305 N. Wellwood Ave., Lindenhurst, NY. Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, July 22nd at 11 AM, St. Paul's Lutheran Church.

Russell will be missed by so many for his gentle spirit, musical talent and spirited laugh. He was a kind and giving person.

As I told you about 3 weeks ago you are the best organist I have ever known and I appreciated his music at St Pauls. Herb and I loved him very much and St Pauls will miss him too. Rest in heaven Russell.

Russell was a remarkable organist / musician who graced us with his presence and talent for over 20 years at Good Shepherd RC Church in Holbrook. We shared many stories and had great moments together, and I will truly miss his witty and humorous personality. Rest In Peace good and faithful servant.
