In the 6 years we worked together in L-16 I never heard Tom utter a bad word about anyone. You don't need much of anything else to know the type of man your dad was. He was a good part of what made 16 Truck a great place to hang your turnout gear in.

Dear Kathleen & Family,
I am deeply sorry to hear of Tom's passing. During the summer of 1983 I came to Lad. 16 a "Johnny " Lieut from the south Bronx, and Tom was kind enough to take me under his wing and show me how things were done in the "real" FD, Manhattan. I learned much from Tom and treasured his wisdom, advice and friendship during my six years in Ladder 16. At his passing Tom left me with another lesson, humility. Not once during all the years I've known him did he ever mention the Navy Cross or his heroics in garnering it. That alone is a testament to the man he was. God Bless in your time of trouble.
