Timothy McGrath

McGrath - Timothy, age 77, formerly of Mineola and Syosset, passed away on Friday, November 21, 2025 after a long illness. He was born on January 30, 1948 in Mineola, NY. He was predeceased by his mother, Helen E. McGrath (Quinn); father, Daniel J. McGrath; and his stepmother, Una McGrath (Lynch). He is survived by Carol, his loving wife of 49 years; his beloved sister-in-law, Elaine Dietrich; niece, Kristen Dietrich; nephew, Eric Dietrich; and best friend since high school, John Sadowski. Tim graduated from Chaminade High School and Hofstra University. He was a member of the Mineola Council of Knights of Columbus for many years. Tim had a 35-year career with the USPS and retired as a regional controller. When he retired, he enjoyed golf, singing with various groups and giving back to the community by serving on the boards of various organizations and as the treasurer and president. He also mentored local high school students. Tim and Carol enjoyed retirement in South Carolina for 18 years and moved to Western Massachusetts four years ago to be closer to family. A Funeral Mass was held at Holy Family Roman Catholic Church in South Deerfield, MA on Tuesday, December 2. A Wake will take place at Cassidy's Funeral Home, 156 Willis Ave., Mineola on Saturday, December 13, from 10:00am to 11:00am. Burial will follow in the family plot at Holy Rood Cemetery in Westbury. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the American Heart Association, Chaminade High School, or Last Hope, Inc. Animal Rescue, Wantagh, NY.
