William John Obituary
with his wife by his side.
William, known as Bill, Willy, or Grandpa Buddy by his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, was born on August 14, 1942, in Brooklyn, NY. Bill was an educator, administrator, coach, and mentor for the Brentwood Public School system in New York until he retired in June of 1997.
Bill enjoyed golf, boating, and traveling. Bill had a special gift connecting with people and could always put a smile on your face. He loved spending the winter months in Moss Creek, SC and the summer months at Silver Lake in Perry, NY with friends and neighbors. Bill is survived by his wife, Barbara; and their three sons, Bill (Renee), Brian (Kelly), Robert (Danielle). He is also survived by his sister, Rosemary John; sister-in-law, Randy (John) Jones; along with his many beloved nieces and nephews. Grandchildren,
Billy, Sara, Kristin, Gabrielle,
Gretchen, Tyler, Hailey, Zach, Cassie, Olivia, Hanna, and Isabelle. Great-grandchildren, Paxton, Millie, Amelia, Elliott, Emmett, and Ember. He was predeceased by his parents, William Sr. and Helen; brother, Christopher; and sister, Deborah. The family will host a celebration of life in Hilton Head on a date in the near future. Sorry to hear this - Coach John - played for him for three years- the ever first Sonderling JV team (undefeated) in 1972 and two years of Varsity on the first ever Sonderling teams after they split Brentwood
Great guy - great coach his teaching got me through college sports!!! Rest in peace

Bill John was a smart man, a good football/wrestling coach and a great mentor. Twice he took the time, when visiting SC, to look me up and took me lunch.
I´ll never forget his comment in my yearbook, "Don´t forget to develop your brain."
Rest easy Mr. John.
