Granville P. Barrett, of Connersville, IN, passed away unexpectedly on November 14, 2025 at the age of 73. His family is saddened and shocked by his sudden death but find comfort knowing they were there with him in his final hours.
Granville was born on August 23, 1952 to Ernest and Cora (Wilder) Barrett. Raised on the family farm in Andersonville, IN with nine siblings, Granville carried those humble values throughout his life, choosing to live simply and generously. His final act of generosity was his decision to be an organ donor. He was easy going, and to those who knew him best, a source of laughter and joy.
He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years Deborah (Thiemann), his children Chad (Katie Foti), Todd (Erica Joy), and Corinne (Chris Roberson), and his siblings Richard Barrett, Catherine George, Ernest Barrett Jr., Caroline Moeller, Preston Barrett, and Sharon Burdick. His legacy lives on in his grandchildren, whom he loved and adored: Elizabeth Barrett, Alden and Eli Krepp, Kensington, Easton, Emerson, Sutton, and Lennon Barrett, and Zach and Avery Roberson.
Granville is preceded in death by his parents, brothers Kenneth and James, and sister Linda.
Granville graduated from Laurel High School in 1972. Upon graduation, he began a career as a grocery produce manager that spanned over 40 years. Known for his dependability and good humor, he was affectionately called "Barry" by his coworkers.
Granville was an avid hunter and a lover of horses and mules. He loved junk food, Elvis, dumb jokes, penny slots, greasy spoon breakfast joints, Westerns, Big Foot documentaries, sweet iced tea, flannel shirts, spending as much time with his grandkids as possible, and a good nap!
Granville will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
