Louis J. Heeb or "Joe", as he was known by many, departed this life on December 10, 2023 at home surrounded by friends and loved ones, just as he had wanted. A life long resident of Connersville, he was born September 2, 1941 in Connersville, Indiana. His parents were Louis J. Heeb, Sr. and Louise Moffet Heeb.
He attended St. Gabriel's School until 1955. He graduated from Connersville High School in 1959. He went on and received a Bachelors of Science degree from Purdue University in 1963. While at Purdue, he was in the Air Force ROTC and enlisted in the Air Force after his graduation from Purdue.
He served in the United States Air Force from 1963 to 1967 and attained the rank of Captain. He was stationed primarily at Wright Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, Ohio.
Following his honorable discharge from the Air Force, he attended law school at Indiana University-Indianapolis School of Law. He graduated Cum Laude in 1973.
He returned to Connersville and was in private law practice until he was elevated to the Bench in 1977. He served as a Fayette County Superior Court Judge until 1990.
Following his time on the bench, he retired to a private law practice for a short time until retiring from the practice of law to pursue other business interests and travel the Country, which he did until his passing on December 10, 2023.
He is survived by his loving sister, Ellen Ann Doubet, his nephew, Michael Doubet, his niece, Suzanne Watson (and her husband, Scott), his grand nephews, Ben Doubet and Ryan Watson, his first cousin, Farrell Smith, cousin, David Devor and numerous devoted friends and companions with whom he spent so much time over his last years, notably, but by no means only, Cindy and Marty Himes, Billy and Rene Beach, Robbie Worley and Adrianne Tressler.
