Michael Albert Tressler, 89, of Connersville, passed away peacefully Monday, February 24, 2025, at Reid Health of Richmond. He had been a resident of Heritage House in Connersville for four years.
A life-long resident of Connersville, Mike was born January 14, 1936, one of four children of William and Roberta Dobbins Tressler. He was a proud 1954 graduate of Connersville High School and later studied through IU East.
On October 31, 1959, Mike was married in St. Gabriel Church to Patricia Sue "Pat" Kuhlman. Mrs. Tressler survives.
Mike was employed at D+M before eventually becoming a dedicated employee at Ford Visteon, where he worked as a mechanical engineer. Mike retired in 1996.
A member of St. Gabriel Church and Council #861 of the Knights of Columbus, Mike was also a dedicated member of the Eagles, the Connersville Lions Club, as well as Historic Connersville. Mike had also been a member of the Connersville Country Club and the Elks Lodge. For many years, he assisted with Connersville Spartan basketball games, where he kept the statistics.
Mike had a love for music, where he played clarinet in junior high and senior high school bands with honors. He would later go on to play the saxophone in many local bands. He also had a passion for singing and was a member of two barbershop quartets – the Chantacleers in Connersville and the Sandollars in Naples, Florida, where he would vacation during the winter.
Mike enjoyed reading, playing tennis and golf, and loved to watch the Cincinnati Reds, the Indianapolis Colts, as well as Purdue football and basketball.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Pat Tressler; four children, Penny (Brett) Bonwell of Omaha, Nebraska, Cynthia Jones and Thomas (Pam Davis) Tressler, both of Connersville, and Sharon Vehslage of Indianapolis; nine grandchildren, Lyndsay (Kevin) Zlomke, Tyler (Alissa) Bonwell, Kelsey (Rob) Pirnie, Jake (Emily) Bonwell, Brittany (Carl) Doan, Brandon (Alexyss) Jones, Ashlee (Jeremy) Gribben, Brayton (Audrey) Tressler, and Carmen Vehslage; 16 great-grandchildren; a daughter-in-law, Tammy Tressler (Jason Webb) of Connersville; two siblings, Bruce (Peggy) Tressler of Rising Sun, and Joan (Ray) Lohrey of Brookville; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Mike is preceded in death an infant son, Christopher; two sons-in-law, Rick Jones and John Vehslage; his parents, William and Roberta Tressler; and a sister, Betty Jo Tressler.
Recitation of the rosary will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. followed by visitation until 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 1, 2025, at Miller, Moster, Robbins Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Reverend Dustin Boehm at 1:00 p.m. at St. Gabriel Church. Burial will follow at a later date in Dale Cemetery.
