1940
2022
Nettie Steele, age 82, began her eternal journey with her Lord on September 8, 2022, at Majestic Care of Connersville. Nettie was born on May 5, 1940, in Richmond, Kentucky, one of five children of the late Dutch Benton and Fannie Prewitt Benton Sparks.
On April 16, 1960, she was united in marriage with the love of her life, Lester Steele. They enjoyed 60 years together before his passing in 2021. They were blessed with four daughters.
Nettie had attended area churches. She loved to dance and listen to country music, and work in her flower gardens. Nettie never met a stranger. She had the ability to bring joy and laughter to all. Most of all she treasured the life she lived and valued her time spent with family.
Most would remember Nettie for her time working at the old Booher's/Hoffman's Dry Cleaners. She also had worked in housekeeping at Lincoln Centers and Majestic Care. While a resident at Majestic Care you could often find her helping with small housekeeping tasks.
Those she has left behind to remember her with love and joy in their hearts are her daughters, Pam (Mike) Montgomery, Regina (Kyle) Fields, Neva (Roger Smith) Phillips and Stacey (Troy) Lutes. She will be thought of often by her sisters, Annie (Achie) Russell and Evie (Norris) Taylor; grandchildren, Jimmie (Destini) Alcorn Jr., Lester "Wally" (Emily) Alcorn, Joshua (Jammie) Alcorn, Erica (Brian) Smith, Erin (Allan) Geary, Elena (Stephen) Godsey, Kaelee (Robert) Urban, Tyler (Jessica) Phillips, and Courtney (Adam) Caldwell, as well as ten great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded by two brothers, James and Douglas Benton.
Friends may visit with the family on Thursday September 15, 2022, at Urban Winkler Funeral Home from 4:00 to 7:00 pm. Funeral services will be conducted on Friday September 16, 2022, at 11:00 am with Rev. Robert E. Lee officiating. Burial will follow at Dale Cemetery.
