Albert Cayson Obituary

Mr. Albert Gerald "Bug" Cayson, 82, of Blountstown, Fla., passed away Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2008, in Tallahassee, Fla.

Mr. Cayson was born Aug. 23, 1925, in Blountstown and had lived here all of his life; he was a friend to all.

Mr. Cayson was preceded in death by his parents, Albert Edward and Linnie Franklin Cayson; sister, Audrey Berson of Orlando, Fla.; brother, Wayman A. Cayson of Blountstown; and grandson, Jeremy Cayson of Hosford, Fla.

He was a charter member and past president of Blountstown Rotary Club, member and past president of Calhoun County Chamber of Commerce and director of the Florida Cattlemen's Association for many years. He served on the state animal livestock board with the Florida Department of Agriculture. He was founder, director and chairman of the board of C & L Bank (now Superior Bank). He was director of First National Bank of Alachua, Fla. (now Capital City Bank).

After 20 years, he retired as postmaster of the Blountstown Post Office. He continued to serve as president of A.E. Cayson & Sons Corporation, which, at one time, was the largest polled Hereford cattle ranch in Florida, until his death.

Survivors include his wife of 61 years, who was his high school sweetheart and the love of his life, Betty Ann Cayson of Blountstown, Fla.; one son, Gerry Cayson and his wife, Janet, of Tallahassee, Fla.; three daughters, Dianne Lainhart and husband, Paul, of Lynn Haven, Fla., Vicki Bennett and her husband, Carl, of Blountstown, Fla., and Deborah Hassig and her husband, Danny, of Blountstown, Fla.; one sister, Marsha Waldoroff of Altha, Fla.; nine grandchildren, Chris Lainhart, Ashley Lainhart, Misty Sizemore, Lauren Sizemore, Andrew Bennett, Adam Edwards, Ayers Hassig, Anna Hassig and Trey Cayson; and one great-granddaughter, Ella Suber.

Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. CST Friday, Jan. 25, 2008, at Blountstown United Methodist Church in Blountstown with the Rev. Charles Smith officiating.
Interment will follow in the Boggs Cemetery in Blountstown. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. CST today, Jan. 24, 2008, at Peavy Funeral Home in Blountstown.

The family will accept flowers, but anyone wishing may make contributions to Blountstown United Methodist Church, 20500 Central Ave. W., Blountstown, FL 32424, or Pioneer Settlement, P.O. Box 215, Blountstown, FL 32424, or to your favorite charity.

All arrangements are under the direction of Marlon Peavy at Peavy Funeral Home in Blountstown, Fla.
